I am directed by Mr.Secretary Amery to acknow- ledge the receipt of your letters F.1232/1/10 and F.1284/1 10 of the 26th and 30th of March respectively, relative to Lord Willingdon's China Indemnity Delegation visiting Hong Kong and Canton.

2. The Secretary of State notes that Sir a. Chamberlain agrees that the Governor of Hong Kong and the Consul General at Canton will have to consul ted before the "ission c n visit Canton, and that Lord Willingdon must be guided by the advice given by those officers; also that it is considered undesirable that

present. I am to enclose for Sir A.Chamberlain's informa- tion a copy of a telegram which has been sent to the Governor of Hong Kong informing him accordingly, and I ar to request that the Secretary of State may be consul ted UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE,
